Auditions!

Illumni Men's Chorale is holding auditions for all voice types: Bass through counter tenor, for our 2011-2012 Season. Illumni is one of Seattle's premier men's ensembles, presenting music of all styles and genres.  We rehearse Weds nights starting in Sept, and perform several concerts throughout the year.  If you are interested in auditioning please fill out the audition form below!

We're holding Open Auditions throughout the summer.  Please feel free to contact us any time.  We are specifically looking for a few more basses and counter tenors to apply.

When & where does Illumni rehearse?

Illumni is hosted by Kent Lutheran Church.  We rehearse Weds nights 7:00-9:30PM starting in September.

What type of music does Illumni perform?

In short: everything.  While we primarily focus on the classical music genre, Illumni has never been afraid to step out of our box, and part of our mission is to present music of all styles at the highest level.

Where does Illumni perform?

Throughout the Seattle and Tacoma area.  Our regular performance spaces include Lagerquist Hall in Tacoma, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island.

What dues are members required to pay?

None.  While we may have some small expenses for cosutming, etc., Illumni does not believe in charging singers to sing! 

What other fun projects does the group work on?

In the past year, we: auditioned for America's Got Talent, performed at NW Folklife, recorded our first CD "Lux Spiritu", performed no less than 14 world premier arrangements & pieces, recorded background tracks for a pop-song, and recorded tracks for the soundtrack album of the movie "Christmas with a Capital 'C'".

Can women be involved?

Of course!  While Illumni itself is a Men's Chorale, we actively invite female guest artists to perform at all our shows.  Previous guests have included Jennifer Ceresa - Soprano, Cora Reuter Foster of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, harpist Tealah Hill, and the award winning, all-female LiveWire Quartet.

Illumni Men's Chorale can best be summed up as, "A bunch of guys who love to sing."  Our members range from "guys who just like to sing" up to full time professional musicians, teachers, composers and singers.  Illumni members have performed with the likes of Seattle Opera, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, the Seattle Symphony, Marvin Hamlisch - but don't let that scare you!  Membership is open to all skill levels of enthusiastic singers.  Don't be afraid to try out!

Illumni members range in age from 19 to 65, with our average age hovering aronud 32.  Members come from all walks of life, from waiters, to teachers & from IT to attorneys.  It's a fun group of guys!

Have other skills?   Illumni has premiered compositions by four members of the group, and multiple members have performed with us as percussionists, pianists and organists.  If you have another skill you'd like to try, let us know!
